Physical Therapist Assistant

The physical therapist assistant (PTA) program provides both general and technical education. The physical therapist assistant program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. The program consists of 3.5 semesters of physical therapist assistant coursework and labs in addition to the prerequisite courses. Upon successful completion, graduates are awarded an associate of applied science degree.

Professional Pilot

Salt Lake Community College has offered the Professional Pilot program for 16 years and prepares students for a successful and exciting career in the aerospace industry. The program includes classroom academics, simulator training, and in-flight instruction. SLCC's program offers two tracks where flight students have the opportunity to obtain their pilot certificates and ratings in both airplanes and/or helicopters. All academic and flight training is certified under the Federal Aviation Administration PAR's Part 141 standards.

Radiologic Technology

Radiographers provide patient services using imaging modalities at the request of physicians qualified to prescribe and/or perform radiologic procedures. A radiographer performs radiographic procedures, applies principles of radiation protection, evaluates radiographs for technical quality, exercises professional judgment and provides patient care. Radiographers can find employment in hospitals, clinics, private offices, industry and public health facilities.

Surgical Technology

The Surgical Technology program prepares individuals to work primarily in the operating room. Employment opportunities are also available in surgical centers, labor and delivery, ER’s and doctors offices. Students will be placed in two clinical facilities, a different one each semester. These clinical placements are made at the discretion of the clinical instructor. Clinical is in the second semester from about 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Students must provide their own transportation to and from the clinical sites.

Visual Art Design

Students with an aptitude in creative problem solving, drawing, design, photography and/or computer related visual communication should consider this rapidly expanding and competitive field. The Visual Art and Design Department allows students to specialize in six different areas:

  • Animation
  • Design
  • Illustration
  • Multimedia
  • Photography
  • Electronic Publishing

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Welding

All common methods of welding, acetylene and inert gas welding techniques are available. Students will be capable of welding ferrous and non-ferrous metals in all positions and can operate shears, rolls, drills and brakes. Degree seeking students will receive a foundation of industry practices, welding theory, and knowledge of metal alloys and metallurgy processes. Graduates from the program will be competent in layout, fabrication, inspection, fitting, cutting and forming metals, and determining electrodes/wire and filler metals required by industry.

For over 25 years, the Culinary Arts program at Salt Lake Community College has prepared students for careers as chefs or food and beverage supervisors in a wide range of industries. This program prepares students for careers in culinary arts and fulfills the requirements for the National Restaurant Association (NRA) and American Culinary Federation (ACF) certifications.
