What is a reserve item and how do I get it?

The Reserve system is designed to allow all students registered in a class access to an assigned item, such as a textbook or specific magazine article. Most of the items are the personal property of the instructor or department. Reserve materials are entered into the Library catalog and can be searched for by Instructor, Course, or Title. Reserve items are kept at the circulation desk and must be checked out before they can be looked at. All Reserve items are checked out for four hour periods and may not leave the Library.
